Marketing compliance

You answer for everything the company publishes. You can only read a fraction of it.

Marketing ships faster every quarter, and the list of rulebooks keeps growing: EmpCo, MiFID II, MiCAR, KOAG / KAG, accessibility, plus your own brand and claims rules. Typetone reads every asset against all of them in one pass, names the rule behind every finding, and waits for a human to approve the fix.

Where it breaks

The first line checks what it remembers. The second line checks what it can reach.

This is not a discipline problem, and it is not solved by another training session. It is arithmetic.

01

First line

Marketing

The people making the asset are the people checking it, against rules they half-remember, at the end of a deadline. The self-check is the first thing that goes when a campaign is late.

02

Second line

Compliance

You review what you can physically open: the launches you hear about, the big campaigns, the markets whose language you read. Everything else goes live unread, and you find out later or not at all.

03

Third line

Internal audit

By the time anyone asks for evidence, the asset has been live for months and the record of who checked what is scattered across inboxes, tickets and someone's spreadsheet.

The arithmetic

Every rulebook, times every asset, times every market.

Adding one regulation does not add one review. It adds one review per asset, in every language you publish in. That is the grid nobody can staff, so in practice it gets sampled.

One illustration of the grid. Real estates run to millions of cells.

What a finding looks like

A finding is only useful if it names the rule.

Severity, the exact line that breaks it, the rule it breaks and a rewrite that does not. Not a score out of ten, and not “this may be non-compliant”.

Violating text

But consumers appear to be worried about high prices combined with countless other uncertainties, such as the geopolitical situation, tightening financial conditions and the aftershocks of the pandemic.

Reasoning

The sentence is long and complex, combining multiple clauses and financial jargon (“tightening financial conditions”) without explanation, below the required B1 reading level.

Recommended solution

Brand Experience Guide: Tone of Voice. Plain language at B1 level: split long sentences and explain or replace jargon.

Clear, descriptive link text

Violating text

“Read more here”

Reasoning

The link text doesn’t describe its destination, which hurts both accessibility and SEO.

Recommended solution

Use descriptive link text that states where it leads, e.g. “Read the full consumer confidence report”.

Unique, descriptive page title

Violating text

“Home | Website”

Reasoning

The page title is generic and duplicated across pages; it should be unique and summarise the page content.

Recommended solution

Write a unique page title that describes the content and includes the primary keyword.

Sign-off and evidence

Nothing changes on the AI's word.

Sampling versus coverage

Manual review

  • You see the campaigns someone remembered to send you
  • Each new regulation is another review cycle to staff
  • Findings live in email threads and spreadsheets
  • Evidence gets reconstructed after the question is asked

Typetone

  • Every asset in every connected channel is read
  • A new regulation is a new ruleset, switched on
  • Every finding cites the rule and the line that breaks it
  • The audit trail is written as the work happens
